Who publishes BuyingBench, how we are funded, and the editorial rules that affiliate revenue never gets to bend.
BuyingBench is an independent product testing and comparison site. We publish two kinds of coverage, and every article states which one it is: hands-on lab tests, where we buy the product at retail price and run it through our standardised protocol, and research-based comparisons, where we do not purchase or physically use the product and instead compare manufacturer specifications, aggregated verified-buyer feedback, and cited third-party sources. Both are scored against the same published criteria. We do not sell sponsored reviews, paid placements, or any form of pay-for-position, and no company outside our team gets to preview, approve, or edit what we publish.

We started BuyingBench because we were tired of “reviews” that are barely disguised advertisements. Too many review sites accept free products, sponsored placements, or affiliate-driven incentives that bias their recommendations. We wanted to build something different — a site where the testing methodology is public, the scores are defensible, and every product is evaluated with the same rigour regardless of who makes it.
Test results should be transparent. Our methodology is published in full. Every score we give can be traced back to specific, documented criteria. If you disagree with a score, you can see exactly how we arrived at it.
Independence matters, and it has to be defined precisely. We earn disclosed affiliate commissions from retailers and networks when a reader buys through one of our links, and our parent company owns two small storefronts — both facts are set out in full on our affiliate and ownership disclosure. What we do not do is sell editorial: no sponsored reviews, no paid placements, no payment for a score or a ranking position, no free or seeded products, and no preview or approval rights for any brand before publication. A commission rate is not an input to a score, and joining a retailer’s affiliate programme never moves a product up a list.
We say what each article is based on. Every article states the sources behind it and whether the product was purchased or physically tested, alongside the evidence dates and a link to our corrections policy.
Negative reviews are as valuable as positive ones. Knowing what to avoid is just as useful as knowing what to buy. We publish honest results even when — especially when — a product fails our tests.
BuyingBench is published by GLX Technologies LLC, a limited liability company registered in Wyoming, United States. The same company also owns and operates the two storefronts named on our affiliate and ownership disclosure, which is why that relationship is disclosed on every page where it could matter.
We write for shoppers in the United Kingdom, Australia, the United States, and Canada, and we say which market a price or availability claim applies to.
Named contributors are listed on our editorial team page, and every published page is checked by an evidence reviewer who is not the article’s author.
BuyingBench is funded through affiliate links. When you click a product link in our articles and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That revenue pays for the research, the imagery, and the running of the site — and, as we build toward hands-on testing, for the units we buy at retail price.
