How BuyingBench uses affiliate links and how they do (and don't) affect our product scores and recommendations.

The Short Version

Some links on BuyingBench are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a small commission. This never costs you anything extra.

BuyingBench is a participant in the Amazon Associates Program and other retail affiliate networks. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

Affiliate links have zero influence on our test scores, rankings, or recommendations. Our testing methodology is applied identically to every product regardless of affiliate relationship.

How It Works

When we link to a product in our test articles, we use affiliate links where available. These links track that a purchase came from our site, and the retailer pays us a small referral fee (typically 3–8% of the sale price). This cost comes from the retailer’s marketing budget — it does not increase the price you pay.

What We Don’t Do

  • No sponsored reviews. We never accept payment to review a product.
  • No free products. We purchase every product we test at full retail price.
  • No score manipulation. A product’s affiliate commission rate has no effect on its BuyingBench Score.
  • No paid placements. Product positioning in our articles is determined by test results, not payment.
  • No hidden arrangements. This page is the complete disclosure of our affiliate relationships.

How We Maintain Independence

Our testing methodology is public and applied uniformly. Every product goes through identical standardised tests. Scores are based on measurable criteria documented before testing begins. We would — and do — give low scores to products with affiliate partnerships when they fail our tests.

The revenue from affiliate links funds product purchases for testing and site maintenance. Without this revenue, we could not afford to buy and test products independently.

Your Choices

You are never obligated to use our affiliate links. If you prefer, you can search for any product we review directly on the retailer’s website. Our test results and recommendations remain the same regardless of how you purchase.
