Short answer: a galaxy projector is a good gift for someone whose bedroom can get properly dark and who would enjoy changing the scene on the ceiling. Buy it with a disc set, not on its own. It is a poor gift for a room that never gets dark, or for someone expecting a video projector.
BuyingBench has not used this projector in person. Everything below comes from what Pococo publishes on its product page and policy pages, read on 10 October 2026.
What it actually does
A disc-based galaxy projector is a decorative LED light. You slot a printed projection disc into the unit, switch off the room lights, and the disc’s artwork (stars and nebula clouds, a moon, a jellyfish scene) appears across the ceiling and walls. Change the disc and you change the sky.
It does not play video or photos from a phone, and Pococo’s unit has no app, no voice assistant and no remote handset. The controls are on the unit itself.
Which option to buy as a gift
Pococo sells the projector in black or white, in four options. The number in the option name counts projection discs, not projectors.
Option
UK price on 10 Oct 2026
Who it suits as a gift
Projector Only
£79.99
Only someone who already owns discs for it. The listing names no discs in the box.
+ 4 Disc Themes
£123.99
One bedroom, one person. A working set to start with.
+ 6 Disc Themes
£132.99 (black) / £133.99 (white)
A shared room, or a child who likes to choose tonight’s sky.
+ 10 Disc Themes
£166.99 (white) / £167.99 (black)
The safest gift: the most scenes to choose from.
Every option ships with the projector, one USB power cord and the printed manual. It runs from any USB power source you already have. The unit measures 157 × 120 × 120 mm and is rated at 5 W or less.
Our view: for a gift, pick 4 discs for one person and 10 discs if you are unsure. Skip Projector Only unless you know the recipient has discs.
Three things to check before you order
Can the room get dark? It needs a dark room, not a blacked-out one. A closed door and a lined curtain make the biggest difference. It is not made for daylight or a lit room.
Is there a flat, pale surface? A smooth ceiling or wall works best. Textured ceilings (artex, woodchip) scatter the light, so aim it at a flat wall instead. In a small bedroom, start about two metres from the surface.
Will it arrive in time? Pococo shows arrival dates beside Add to Cart, worked out for an order placed today. Compare them with the date you need. It ships in the retail box shown on the product page, without gift wrap.
Costs and returns, plainly
Shipping: free tracked delivery to the UK. The tracking number is emailed when the parcel ships.
Import VAT: Pococo’s checkout states that UK import VAT is not included in the price, and the carrier may charge it plus a handling fee on delivery. Allow for that if you are buying for someone else’s address.
Returns: 14 days for a change of mind; the buyer pays return postage.
For a child’s room
Pococo’s own advice: stand it on a high shelf out of reach from the bed and clip the cable along the wall so nothing crosses the floor. It is a light for a dark room, not a night light, and it does not light the floor. We make no claim that it helps anyone sleep.
