Required Safety Note: BlendJet 2 Recall

BlendJet 2 base units were subject to a large CPSC recall announced in December 2023 covering roughly 4.8 million units sold in the US, for fire and laceration hazards (the blades can break during use, and the unit can overheat or catch fire). Units with serial numbers where the first four digits fall between 5201 and 5542 are affected.

This is not a minor or resolved issue: BlendJet Inc. has since gone out of business, and the recall remedy is no longer available. The CPSC’s guidance for affected units is to stop using the blender and discard it — not donate or resell it. If you own a BlendJet 2, check your serial number against the recalled range before continuing to use it. No accessory changes the recall status of the base unit, which is why this article no longer links to any.

Oversized ice molds create cubes most portable blender motors can’t handle well. Hard travel cases often take up more bag space than the blender itself. Extra blades are only useful if the manufacturer still sells a matching gasket — worth checking before buying, since some smaller brands stop selling parts for older models.
